Freezing Ubuntu 10.10

Date: Jan 09    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 359

I have a wubi install of Ubuntu 10.10 and Win XP.

Almost daily Ubuntu just freezes completely. I am able to move the mouse around
but nothing works at all.

Is there a way I can unfreeze i? At the moment I am doing a hard power shut
down.

Did you defrag Windows before you installed WUBI? Ubuntu in WUBI runs on a
Windows file system. If the file system was slowed down by fragmentation
then WUBI performance will suck. It is a very large file and if it is spread
around the hard drive expect to wait lots.

We need to start with the basics. How much memory do you have? How much free
space on the HDD and so on.
