OpenOfice freezes Ubuntu

Date: Dec 28    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 329

I am running Ubunto 7.10 on an Apple Power PC G4, 1.25 MHz, 1.25 GB
Ram. Seperate HD. OpenOffice word or Spreadsheet lock up the computer.
The application opens, File just produces a rapid blink, no control.
This eventually produces a hard freeze and a power restart.
How can I uninstall/remove OpenOffice.

1. By using Add/Remove feature under application menu
2. By using Synaptic
3. By using aptitude ( from shell/console )
4. or by typing as root from shell/console 'apt-get --purge remove
openoffice*'

Can you open up the terminal and type in
openoffice
See if there is a run error? When you run program and it crashes. You can tun it
in the terminal and if it crashes. The terminal will give a error code.

Yes I can. And the response is the same. Opens, and freezes. No run error.

Can I delete it from terminal. Purge is not found

There are no other problems, other applications run.

You might want to reinstall whole OO.org package again, after you wipe
it from your system.
Maybe that will help.
