I'm setting up a PC on Ubuntu Linux for my wife. She's a die-hard AOL fan andunmovable. Anyone know if the standard AOL software is available for UbuntuLinux?
OH dear AOL I would not give it house room but who can buck a wife But this site tells you that AOL is into Linuxhttp://news.cnet.com/2100-1023-244438.html
Do a search in Synaptic, I saw something that mentioned AOL, but I wasn'tcurious.
There is only the AOL-server core in Synaptic
I think they was thinking of making an version for Linux once but discrided nottoo. I think it Windows only. AOL does have an Web version that will work inLinux.
Just go to the AOL home page in Firefox and make it the default, thenwhen she opens Firefox she'll get the AOL front page and be able toaccess all the content as well as her mail
AOL in the UK is still operating under the title AOL Broadband, How isits take up in the USA nowadays I wonder.Yes that is one way to use AOL but users normally get AOL softwaretaking over their computer.
I think AOL gave up on an LINUX software and op for the web version to keep thecode private.
AOL toyed with RedHat over a deal to get into the OS market and took upwith Mozilla to use FF but did not go the whole hog because they need toincome from their programs on the broadband side.
Knew it was one are the other. Thought it was the source the most.
