Communicating with a USB device

Having the USB/RS232 conversion device below, how can take the ASCII info being
sent to it via RS232, read and display this in Ubuntu?

Using lsusb this is what is returned about it
Bus 001 Device 029: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd
FT232 USB-Serial (UART) IC

According to it, minicom is the best program for serial communications.
