xorg issue

Date: Jan 11    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 286

I had an update and on reboot I have only a gray screen. I think in the 50 or so
updates was an xorg update. How do I find which file was updated and revert?

Im logged in under recover mode running low graphics now looking at the log.

Ok.. not xorg. I think it was the latest kern.
I chose the old one

One very good reason why keeping those older kernels is a good idea
perhaps ? Well, at least one older kernel to roll back to !!

You should be offered the same updates again and this time hopefully
they'll take properly.

Of course, Im using 11.04 (my upgrade mess up there) so that
has to do with it too.

OS's ( and software ) are classed as 'Beta' for very good reasons,
they aren't finished and *will* have bugs that might bite a little and
might bite very hard. Keep those older kernels, just in case

...and 11.04 isn't even beta - it's Alpha 1. Expect bugs!

At least in this Im not the only one having problems. Ive seen a lot of
posts in various ubuntu groups with the same issue - update yesterday on
10.04 and 10.10 system and screen saver no longer works.

This might be a alpha but I have to say - except for my original
problems which had nothing to do with any of the versions, I have had
less problems with 11.04 than anything past 8.04. Yea, a stretch but -
its been nice.

Funny thing. Was showing the class the help files for 10.04 yesterday
and low and behold the help file for 10.04 calls the release 11.04.
With this discrepancy what release are we talking about?
