Wireless net connection

I am en counting a problem with wireless net work.in my laptop i am
using Ubuntu 8.10. when iam activating the wireless networking some unsecured
(open with out password)wireless networks are available but i am not able to
establish a connection.how can I connect with this neworks.

Is it your network for your router. You need to set it up with an
Ethernet cable first did you not read my mail with link on this subject.

What is unclear is did your wireless ever work properly? In other words
is it set up properly? See:
