Ubuntu or Other Linux on Old Libretto

Date: Dec 27    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 417

I have an old Libretto on which I am thinking of installing Linux .
It is the 100CT, which only has a 133 MHz Pentium and 64 MB of RAM.
Is there an older version of Ubuntu that may work with such a minimal
system, or would I be better off installing something like Puppy or
DSL? I have several hard drives for this machine, so it would be
easy to try several different OS's by simply pulling out and replacing
the HD's.

I would stick with DSL. Yoy don't have enough resources to run a X. I
had Redhat 5.1 on a 486-dx4-100 with 64 megs of ram and it worked, but
took forever for anything to happen.

You can use Xubuntu too. It is for light weight CPU and low ram. Yuu can try
Parsix as well.

With ubuntu out there it seems a waste of time to start with a Linux
that is limited as a small one must be. I found ubuntu the easiest to
get accustomed to of the many that I tried.
