I was trying to start my taxes with turbo tax and it said Ubuntu wasn'tsupported. Is there any other software that works ubuntu. Or is something to useit or work around. the problem I have been using turbo tax for years and itimport my information for the last year and other stuff.
I used Tax act that is on line and works great with Fire Fox. I would check tosee if there is an on line version.
Is your Turbo Tax a version for Windows? if so it might run under the WineWindows Emulator, or Crossover Linux, but there is no guarantee. Wine is inthe Ubuntu repository, but Crossover must be purchased fromhttp://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxlinux/. It's $39.95 for the standardedition and $69.95 for the pro edition. There is also a free 30 day trialedition available there. If it works on your Windows software it should beenough to get your taxes done anyway!
Do you have wine installed? If you had wine installed Turbo Tax should work in that.
I'm using the online version, not wine or crossover. To me it sounded weirdbecause its online. I thought stuff that is online was universal.
could try an agent switcher with firefox. Likely not a mater ofactual support but and exclusive whitelist some moron wrote.
I suggest people look at and change the Subject line before they sendbecause this one and several say its about Tax SoftwareAre they all about that???
It may use ActiveX which comes only with Windows. That is just poor programmingas there are other options. You may have to run it from a Windows machine, asmuch as it pains me to say so.
May work for you!ie6 w/activeX support (with some exceptions) on Linux.www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Installation
I hope it is OK to post a link. I've used TaxACT in the past. It doesn'tmention Linux, but does support Firefox, Opera, and Java. Federal and Statecan be done online. Federal is free with E-File.http://www.taxact.com/taxes-online/
