Roku Netflix Player work if you have Ubuntu Linux Operating System Only?

Does anyone know if Roku Netflix Player works if you have Ubuntu Linux Operating
System Only? I am new -- there is a lot messages to sort through so if this has
been posted before I hope you don't mind answering the question again. If so
are there any limitations with using Roku Netflix Player - will it play the
Netflix Instant Videos even with just Ubuntu Linux Operating system on your
computer?

Our roku works just fine, and we have linux and mac only, and I always
edit my netflix queue selections in linux. The roku box doesn't know or
care what operating system you have on the computers in the house.

As a general rule of thumb here: if it works in Firefox using a Windows OS,
it will work in Firefox in Linux. There are some specific "in browser"
aplications that require Active X to operate (such as remote to desktop
connections using Microsoft Live Mesh), and for that, you need to install
Internet Explored in linux, either under a Virtual Machine or using Wine
from the repositories. I haven't personally installed Int. Explorer yet,
but it is on my list of to-dos so I can connect to my company-owned work PC.

thanks for that information because my Windows XP OS will stop getting
support in 2014 and I won't be able to run the Netflix Instant from the computer
in 2014. At least, I have the option to now get the Roku Player then to keep my
Netflix Instant videos available although I have to pay more to switch from DSL
Lite to DSL 1.2 or 1.5 level.

I think you are misunderstanding the Microsoft Support Cutoff date for XP.
All that means is that Microsoft will stop issuing updates at that point. You
will still be able to run XP for as long as you want.

Oh I know that but mainly the softwares such as Virus and Spam protection and
probably Netflix Instant will stop once Windows XP in 2014 stops supplying MS XP
patches for the Operating System. They usually feel that if there is a bug in
the OS - that the products they supply are vulerable - from my Internet research
on MS 98 - that is what the Virus and Spam software said. I know the MS XP
Operating System will work but I don't dare use it after 4/8/2014 -- without
updated Virus and Spyware protection on the Internet.

I think above post had the best solution for me for Netflix in upgrading my DSL lite
and purchasing the Roku Player and then using Ubuntu Linux from then on starting
2014 -- I am not getting a whole new computer just to run Vista or Windows 7 -
my current computer isn't fast enough and doesn't have the DirectX Graphic
capabilities.
