I connected a hard-disk with a working Win XP installation on it to my PC,
booted Ubuntu, accessed the new Windows HD and deleted NTLDR without trouble.
Rebooted, booted from the Windows HD and, indeed, the black screen appeared.
NTLDR is missing press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart or something like this.
Rebooted, booted the main HD into Ubuntu and simply re-copied NTLDR. Booted
Windows and it loaded without problems. I accessed My Computer Local Disk (C:)
and NTLDR was there, visible ! I deleted it manually, rebooted and Windows did
not load. Booted Slax Linux and recopied NTLDR where it had been.. Rebooted and
Windows loaded flawlessly (a little slower, though). Booted Slax again and
deleted NTLDR, then restored it again.
I am writing under Windows now.
Please tell me whether or not it is a good thing just to restore NTLDR on PC's
where it is missing, in normal situations.
So, one just boots Slax or some other live CD and just deletes NTLDR...
