My system is :

I've been using various distros for a few years. The Microsoft products are
just too expensive, vulnerable, and bloated anymore. I started using ubuntu
when it was new, and wasn't that impressed. The distro I have installed now
is ubuntu 8.04. I'm using it on an Asus K8U-X motherboard.

Everything seems to work fine. I had issues with the sound, but with some
reading and adding a line to a configuration file solved that issue. I print
to an Epson printer on the network.

The only issue I have now is with my firewire card. I use a DV camera, and
would like get it to work on the K8U-X box. I'm sure it will be like the
sound issue. A little reading and some configuration.

I managed to get my firewire card to work. I can get videos from my DV
camera now. This version of ubuntu seems much easier to configure then the
older versions I was using.
