LAMP Install

  Date: Feb 19    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 390

So far I've seen at least 4 different methods for installing a LAMP
stack on Ubuntu 10.04.

* sudo apt-get install tasksel and then sudo tasksel install lamp-server
* sudo apt-get install apache2, sudo apt-get install php5
libapache2-mod-php5, sudo apt-get install mysql-server
* sudo apt-get install lamp-server^
* Also by using Synaptic

Is there one method that works better than the others?

If it were my system, I would use Synaptic to install MySQL, Apache and PHP.
Actually, that's what I did on my system when I wanted to set up a test web
server. (My real web site is on a commercial provider.)

Have you started thinking about where you will go when 10.04 expires in April?

I'll update to 12.04. Tried last month on my old PC and all I got was a
blank desktop. Was thinking it was the graphics card. Just got a new PC
and am hoping this will work.

If you are running the server version of Ubuntu 10.04 then you have till
April, 2015, and you may be able to do that if you want LAMP. Othrwise it
will be 2013 as mentioned.
