What kind of
file sever are you trying to set up. What kind of systems will be
using the server. FTP and a separate file server sounds like it could
be redundant.

What clients OS will be connecting to the server? What kind of stuff

Client machines will be running on windows environment ( Win Xp and Vista).
The website will be for enterprise news and will be having a feature for readers
to give comments and feedback right on the site not via email.

I'm an Ubuntu person, however, apache2, mysql, php, and samba. I don't know
about FTP, I use SFTP using ssh myself.
