can't get Java to work with Red Hat Linux

Asked By: Kevin    Date: Jul 19    Category: Java    Views: 996

I have redhat 2.24 xxx kernel "Installed" j2re-1_4_2_01-linux-i586.rpm

it looked like installation succeeded, but java does not work... on
mozzila. TOOLS => WEB DEVELOPMENT => "JAVA CONSOLE" is greyed out

ON EDIT => PREFERENCES => ADVANCED => JAVA is Enabled and all settings
seem appropriate...... (I have a direct DSL connection)

I have tried everything that the SUN site suggests, and their test
site ssays java is installed

I checked the KAVA CONSOLE by opening it from the directory... but it
did not get java to work..

Is there a combination of where mozzila and java is installed along
with certain permissions that have to be adhered to?

In Mozilla, when you click on HELP > About PLUGINS, do
you see the java  1.4 plugin? If not, then you will
have to download and install from the Mozilla site.
