Adding Ubuntu desktop to Mythbuntu without going online?

Date: Feb 05    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 431

Is there any way I can add the Ubuntu (or, better yet, Ubuntu Studio) desktop to
an existing Mythbuntu installation WITHOUT having to go online? My internet
access from my apartment right now is extremely intermittent and spotty, and it
will be some time before I can change that. I have the latest Ubuntu Studio and
Mythbuntu discs (11.04). Any help or advice on this point would be deeply
appreciated!

Yes. The packages that you need will be on the disk. You will need to add
the disk to your package manager sources and then it should look for them
there. Or you can browse for them with the file manager and once you locate
the debs install them.
It is more straight forward to use a connection because you will get the
latest releases.

I've tried doing what you suggest, and the system refuses to add the disc to the
list of sources. Can you give me a step-by-step walk-through, so to speak? In
the meantime, I'll try browsing the disk with the file manager as you also
suggested.
