2003 - Problem with dates

Asked By: Donna    Date: Feb 02    Category: MS Office    Views: 1025

Can someone please confirm... Or debunk of course as the case may
be... A problem with dates.

In the excel help for DATEVALUE I've copied the example to a blank
worksheet.

I get the result...

#VALUE! Serial number of the text date, using the 1900 date system (39682)
39682 Serial number of the text date, using the 1900 date system (39682)
39501 Serial number of the text date, using the 1900 date system (39501)
38903 Serial number of the text date, using the 1900 date system, and
assuming the computer's built-in clock is set to 2008 (39634)

As you can see there is a #Value error in the first cell. The formula for
the cell in the help reads...
=DATEVALUE("8/22/2008")

Does anyone get a similar result please?

I get the same problem. BUT ... My computer is set to Australian dates  so
"8/22/2008" means nothing. We would use "22/8/2008". If I change it it works
fine.
