My laptop has a BIOS update available that says it enhances Windows performance

If you are installing from scratch, go with 9.10. For me, and for a lot of
people, it fixed the problems in 9.04. We don't make a lot of noise about it,
unlike the few people who have trouble with 9.10.

I'm sorry, I have no idea about the BIOS update and ACPI.
