Firefox & wireless internet

Iam connected to my ISP, it is just Firefox & Thunderbird cannot find the
server.
I had no problems in 8.10 install of Ubuntu

How do I check or change the fire wall settings ?
Thanks for answering.

This was a straight forward up grade to 9.04
from the internet under 8.10, no problems encounted while\upgrading.
