startup firefox and a doc automatically

Is there a way on ubuntu10.04LTS
to automatically startup firefox, and a doc edit in gedit,
as in windows XP startup folder?

You can write a script to do that, but it looks like this would work.

You right click on the entry for it in Applications and choose add it to
the panel

This does not make it autorun. It just puts a launcher where it is more
convenient similar to pinning it in Windows to the start menu. He wants it
to actually run without clicking.The place to go is: System > Preferences >
Startup Applications (older versions may say Sessions and have a tab for
Startup Programs). If there are several then he can make a script and run it
from here.
