Thunderbird in 10.04 LTS

Date: Feb 11    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 383

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with Thunderbird 3.1.20. When I log on I
get a notice that Thunderbird 3.1.20 won't be supported after 24 Apr
2012. Update Manager isn't updating Thunderbird. What is the best
means of updating Thunderbird?

You could either upgrade to the next LTS (12.04) when in comes out or if
you want to stick with 10.04 then you could enable the backports in the
repositories which should provide you with a more recent TB.

First back up your data then in a command line terminal:

> sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/thunderbird-stable
> sudo apt-get update
> sudo apt-get upgrade

That should allow you to upgrade to the latest version of Thunderbird.
