Thinkpad 380 No CD/No Net/No USB Install?

Date: Feb 05    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 332

has a 2.1 gB HDD, 1 Floppy. PCMCIA card slot with modem currently installed,
running Win98 not Win98SE. This TP has the HD buried inside the case. I have no
network card for this laptop, would like to get a version of Ubuntu on it using
either a micro install iso which I can get. Any suggestions (even other distros
would be considered)?

First off let me say I am NOT a tech. However if this was mine Ide start
thinking about putting Puppy Linux on it. Good Luck and let me know what it
turns out to be.

If you decide on Puppy, let me know if they allow both USB NIC and other USB
device in an USB 2 PCMCIA adapter. Last time, I tried it was a no go, but with
old low RAM units I liked EconoPup, but it might be a bit old now. Distrowatch
on Monday had a few suggestions for Pentium computers in the comments.

This 14-year-old machine is not close to meeting the requirements for Ubuntu. It
probably has 32 MB of memory, which might be enough to run Slitaz or Damn Small
Linux. I'm not sure if either of them can be installed from floppy.
