I recently installed ubuntu on a Sony Vaio laptop (VGN-BX565B) with acentrino processor. It runs fine but I'm facing a problem withshutdown. When I press the shutdown button, the system shuts down butthe power remains.
You say press?Are you shutting down via the red shut down button top right of youscreen or just using the laptop buttons. If so use the software.
There are known ACPI problems with Sony laptops. The fix is reported tobe included in the 2.6.22 series kernel. See this thread:ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php
