My Sansa Clip mp3 player was not
detected by Ubuntu 9.10, Karmic Kola or Linux Mint 8, Helena, (similar
based), but would work fine with my Windoz XP machines. It is several years
old. After trying
several solutions to no avail, I upgraded the firmware in the Clip,
and presto, the Sansa Clip works with Windoz and Ubuntu. It
works like a memory device with the normal folders for pod casts,
audio books, etc. The firmware and directions are found on Sansa
website:

Sansa claims that support for ogg files has been added in the new firmware. I
have not tried it.
