ODBC related problem

Asked By: Gwen    Date: Oct 23    Category: MS Office    Views: 868

I have created database in Ms-Access and the report in Excel. I am importing
data (using import external data option) from Access to Excel on regular
interval. This file is working file when I use it in my office as it has been
created in my office PC. Now I have copied both files to my home PC but if
I refresh the data in excel I get the following error:

ODBC Microsoft Access Driver Login Failed [Disk or network error]

I think that there could be any of several causes for this but the answer for
all of them is to rebuild the link to the data  for your home  machine. It is
probable that this will mean that whenever you take the files  between home and
work you will need to rebuild the link. If you only need to bring the updated
data file  home and not the excel  file you may be OK once you have done the
link.

It is unlikely that it is anything to do with the fact that you created  it
on your office  computer. I shift files  around all the time.

Make sure that the path to the database  is exactly as Excel expects it to
be. (Also check your permissions for the directories involved, but I
suspect it's more likely to be a simple path problem.)

What sort of connection are you using to the database - DSN or non-DSN?
