NDISWrapper can't be found ?!

I'm installing Kubuntu 7.10 on an old computer
and need NDISwrapper to run a wireless USB
stick for the internet. NDIS installed with
no trouble and so did the USB's drivers.

I did an "Ndiswrapper -l" command and K-7.10
confirmed the drivers were loaded and visible.
I also blacklisted the 'Prism2_usb' driver that
conflicts with them. I then did 'sudo modprobe
ndiswrapper' to load NDIS and get online, and
K 7.10 said "Ndiswrapper: Module not found"

Can someone tell me why NDIS is there when I check
for the drivers, but vanishes when it's time to
use them?! Did I miss a step? Or is this computer
just totally borked??
