No, I was thinking of going to Ubuntu 11.04.
I never heard of Mythbuntu.
I've been running Ubuntu 10.04.
I'm having trouble burning ISO files (in Windows 7) so they are bootable.
I have some old laptops and desktops. Do you think Mythbuntu could run on
those?

What program are you using on Windows 7 to burn DVDs? Try ImgBurn. It's
free. http://www.imgburn.com/

Mythbuntu is a setup built like a DVR. http://www.mythbuntu.org/

i looked at mythbuntu.com still dont understand i dont have cable tv, do u mean
it will allow a dvr to record stuff from internet like movies, shows and videos?

It's mythbuntu.org you need to check out, not the .com website. :-) If you
don't have cable, it can be set up to capture over the air broadcasts. Not
sure if you can capture stuff from the web or not. I'm not sure what all it
can do yet, which is why I posted my original message.

ok, let me keep working on getting it installed with the ISO file.
I have over the air TV with the antenna in the window.
What are your plans? Do you have OTA?
I'm guessing I would need to have a NIC card with COAX connector if I'm going to
capture the signal from my antenna (or TV converter box) on my computer.

Yes, there are TV tuner cards that work with Linux. If I am reading things
correctly, the Mythbuntu system allows you to have a whole system networked
to stream from a central computer. This is very appealing to me.

before we spend alot of money, isn't there some talk that OTA broadcast may not
be around much longer? I don't know many people that have it.

Answer #8    Answered On: Feb 11

I don't think I've heard that. I also don't think that would be legal since
not everyone can afford cable TV.

I use OTA mainly for football games. Everything else I can get on netflix
or hulu. Sure beats a cable bill! Even so, you should be able to run your
cable out from the converter box to the capture card for a dvr setup. As
for recording internet streams, I think there are FireFox plugins for that.
