mother's opinion of Ubuntu

Date: Jan 10    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 293

Ubuntu is the greatest thing out there for people who are new to
Linux. I tried Mandrake, SuSE and Fedora Core. All were very good
but I had to try to figure out too many things. I don't speak geek
very well.

I threw Ubuntu on the kid's pc. It's old Dell. I fell in love with
Ubuntu.

I'm also a TV producer and wanted to switch my crew over to Linux. I
tried to install Ubuntu on my laptop and ran into problems. I really
thought I was going to have to go with FC because I had less than 3
hours left to make a decision on which Linux we were going to use.

The Ubuntu community got me going within an hour. The community is
what makes Ubuntu an even better choice, period.

I cannot agree with you more, I can just about use windows 98, but
still managed to install Ubuntu on my machine, just got to work out
how to get it on the net.

The nice thing about Ubuntu is that it can be easy for new users, but
has the fexability of debian for power users. You can do so much with
it. I have been using it for close to 8 months now.

I changed to Ubuntu a few weeks ago and got lots of trouble in the
beginning but nothing that couldn't be fixed.

My only problem is that I really don'y have all the time i'd need to
learn this as fast as I would want to.
It is a whole new world compared to winXP! A world I really like though
so I'll stick with it :-) I just need to find a way to calm down my kids
who are upset about not being able to play their games anymroe *sigh*
