I never used sound recorder, I use Audacity and works fine. Come to think about
it. I never could get sound to record on that program.

I have tried audacity over and again and I just get errors.

The default recording device in Audacity is ALSA: Intel 82801DB-ICH4
(hw:0,0). Nothing happens. I tried MIC ADC(hw:0,1), MIC2(hw:0,2), and
ADC2(hw:0,3) with no luck.

I have a male to male connection. I plug one end into either microphone
or linein. The other to a female in. Then I plug a RadioShake Removable
Telephone Pickup into the other.

(Oh shoot!!! It works perfectly on windows. Didnt want to see that.)

I plug it into the back of my computer and all I get is air. Now, If I
plug one end of the male connector into the ear phones of a cassette
player, I can record the sound - at least on Sound Recorder.

You record the sound but it appears as nothing happens. Save it to your
desktop. Open it again and you can hear what you record. Its totally
useless but it works in that manner.

Well, I guess my ThinkPad with XP is coming to court tomorrow instead of
Ubuntu.

I also tried to record with Audacity but I discovered that none of the
ALSA files were on the computer. Audacity and PoderbitS worked great
after I tweeked ALSA.

I am trying to catch up with this thread...I was the cool edit pro fellow
(as well as fruity loops, which I never posted).

I have my mic in, with the +20db boost checked as well as mic capture
checked. Sound Recorded doesn't do anything...it just lays blankly there
where I try to record something....was singing along to an mp3 playing in
totem. Help?

Okay tried it....the sounds comes out all garbled on playback (which only
happens if I save the file, then play it). Any ideas? I am trying to
google this one out, but no luck so far....(they suggested getting rid of
KDE, but not really sure how to do such a thing in Ubuntu (nor if it is wise
to do so).

Change the alsa to OSS for Audacity..........
