List from other worksheet or workbook?

Asked By: Charlie    Date: Feb 21    Category: MS Office    Views: 679

I want to create a drop down list in the worksheets("sheet1").
The content of the list is from my database that I created at the
worksheets("sheet2").
The most simple way for the drop list is fro the data > validation >
list.
However it is not allow to create the list from other worksheets.

Pls advice. Is there any other ways to create the drop list from the
other sheet ??

We've had success using named ranges for this.

Name the range that contains your list  on the secondary worksheet
(you may need to tweak your range if the length of the list changes
from your DB).

Set your validation  type to List and in Source field, simply type
='list name'

I too have been able to "trick" Excel into accepting a list
from another sheet  this way.
