Increasing allocated Linux disk space?

Date: Dec 11    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 507

I have Ubuntu (lastest 64bit version) on a shared system with Vista 64 bit on a
single hard drive. I wish to increase the share of the Linux portion from
roughly 20% to 40% or so. How do I do this?

Original allocation was done at install time with the Ubutu 64 bit DVD/CD tools.

Using the Partition editor (System, Administration), you can resize the
partitions by shrinking the size of the Vista partition and then enlarging the
Ubuntu one. You need to work from a Live CD because you cannot work on mounted
partitions. The first step (shrinking) will free up the space and the second
step (resizing up) will use that freed space to make Ubuntu larger.
