My desktop suddenly changed. The tray went from the top to the left
side. How can this happen by itself? How do I get it back on top?

Right click and chose properties and then you can check which position
you want. On the General tab mine says Orientation: Buttom.

right click on the panel, a window will open, then click on properties. you will
then see a drop down menu at the top, just select and click on the bottom

I had the same problem with my nec. It keep changing back to 800x768.I
fixed it by using configure debian. Was fairly easy it walkes you
through it. Just have to set up your screen resolution that you want
to use as default It only happened on gusty. There was some mention of
a update from ubuntu on this. Not sure if they did.
