I just installed Ubuntu on another partition. I also have fedoracore on here. I want to use the Fedora Grub boot loader. What do Ineed to put in the grub.conf file to make this be bootable?
I hope this helpshttp://ubuntuguide.org/#changedefaultosgrub
i installed the ubuntu 8.04 in a usb flash. the install was a successbut it is not working, i.e., i can login but is hanging.before i reformat the usb and again try to re-install, how can i deletethe boot loader. and where i can find this?
The boot loader should be on the pendrive or you will have problems with thebootloader when the pendrive is removed. You need to set your BIOS to boot fromusb devices first. That way it will load the usb device if it is in and then goto the next device if it is removed. If the bootloader is on the hard drive itbecomes messed up when the usb is removed. You can have more than one grubbootloader. If your bootloader is not working then you will have to edit it. However, if theusb device boots and then hangs the bootloader is fine. It is the installationthat you need to work on. You need to find out what is making it hang. To dothat you should remove the words splash --quiet from the grub screen. It willappear in the window near the bottom. just press the backspace key till thosewords are deleted. That way you will see the text scroll as it loads and get anidea what is causing the system to hang.
Sorry but i can't find the splash-quiet from the grubscreen. however it looks like that my install is working but can'tfind the buttons - just plain light orange screen.i pressed the home button on my keyboard, and there appears thescreen for audio/media something.are there combination buttons that i can click so I can see the fullscreen. my screen display is only 13" (Dell XPS dual booting withVista).
