Apple users thoughts on Ubuntu. Great perspective from a non-Linux, non-Windows
user.

use at home..............

it's good to come across an ex Amiga user as well as a Mac User.
I headed up an Amiga user group and more recently I was kind of a Mac
evangelist. I sold my iBook after my two year used a fork on the
screen, planning on buying a new one right away. Well financial
concerns postponed my plans and I ended up buying a 2nd hand 500 MHZ P
III so I could have something till I could get another Mac. For an OS
I installed Ubuntu 7.04. When I saw Compiz-Beryl running on the 256
MB, 500 MHZ PIII it seemed like it was a top of the line brand new
machine. My jaw dropped open, I was so blown away that I've been
content with that old machine, and happy with Ubuntu. Now maybe I'll
end up being an Ubuntu/Linux evangelist.

I've been lucky enough to be able to save for a new computer from
time to time. I really should take vacations where I go somewhere and
enjoy myself. Now I'm saving up for some machinery for a business
venture-second career.

It's the sort of process where I have to make sales from my first
hardware to generate the cash for the later hardware. Since it's
hobby related, the needed field trips for 'research' are a nice side-
effect.

I should make 4-8 field trips this summer....... short and moderately
sort-of near car-trips with a digital camera and a stack of
chips......... maybe one plane trip for the same as a 4-day or so
excursion.

Buying a very-nice low cost used car and quickly paying it off
several years apart has made this more possible for me.

I've been too long at the grindstone and gotta get out and have some
fun now that the weather is nice. My last real vacation was in
1991..........

Life sure can be challenging.
