You might need to run Skype by using this command in Terminal:
bash -c 'LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so skype'

Skype has a testing/preview mode. In my experience, if that works, the live
sessions work.

I am off to church now, but I might have a chance later today to log on to
Skype.
