Here is what I had to do.

I found this in the ubuntu forums.

#Comment out the following line
#options snd-intel8x0m index=-2
# Added the next line
options snd-intel8x0 buggy_semaphore=1

I didn't bother commenting out the index=-2 line. It still works fine.

Then rebooted the system.

I'm going to keep all of this in my notes. I failed to do that last time.
