Frontend Development Question

Asked By: Rainhard    Date: Jan 23    Category: Java    Views: 680

I'm not a member of your group yet but I have a problem that I need
an answer to urgently so I can do some reasearch if I need to.

I haven't done any programming in Java since 1.2 was just released so
I'm a little behind on what's new. Anyway, I'm a freelance
designer/developer and landed a contract for some frontend
development work. There will be people taking care of the backend and
all of the logic on the site. As part of the requirements the front
end must be in Java(???). I thought that Java/JSP was a backend
component mingled with HTML code for the graphical/frontend output,
much like Active Server Pages. Is this the case or am I way off? If
I'm off where can I read about this?

Thank you for taking the time to reply to this and help me with my
problem.

Well, they could either a.) be speaking about a desktop application written in
Swing or some other GUI toolkit, or b.)
you will be providing the JSP/HTML which will need to communicate with EJBs or
some other distributed application
components.

You can do a lot of things with Java.
