Java Business Applications - not web development

Asked By: Dale    Date: Sep 02    Category: Java    Views: 683

Please excuse my intrusion, but I could use some assistance and am
hoping maybe some of you may have some information for me.

We have a client who is looking specifically for a Java Programmer
with Business Applications development experience - NOT web
development -in a production environment on a UNIX or RS6000. I am
coming across alot of Java Programmers with Web development
experience, but there doesn't seem to be a large population for what
our client needs. Does anyone have any suggestions as to any links,
forums or any such thing where there is more information on Java
programming in a business applciation/production environment or
where these programmers may be interested in learning more of this
opportunity?

What I read your client  did not know his behind from
his elbow. Developer who know Business Development
usually came from COBOL, Visual Basic, PowerBuilder,
or one of those Database Houses. Java Developer came
from C++ or scientific community per se. During the
dot com heyday Java getting popular because it can
bridge organization operations with Web entity unit
usually belong to Marketing Dept.

Hence, you can find Java Developer with Web
development more common than with Business
development. Yet, you can find them but the
experience will be from 5 years counting down.
