Vmware on Ubuntu

Date: Jan 02    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 332

I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 with Vmware and when 7.10 and an update of
Vmware came out I was worried that my windows vm would stop working if
I upgraded. Any time I have made changes to the widows vm I have to
activate windows again. I'm worried MS will red flag me for so many
activations. I'm also worried that the vm will not transfer. I try
to move the vm to another computer and it would not work.

First, you can reinstall your Windows OS as many times as you want.
There isnt a limit. Now, if you are registering each time with MS, who
knows. I dont register any more. Any updates I need I just go get.

So as I understand it, you want to upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10. So take it
step by step. Do that upgrade first. Then see if VM has any problems. If
it does you can try to update just the VM. If that doesnt work - then
reinstall Windows.

I was running the VMWare player on Ubuntu 7.04 but when I upgraded to Kubuntu
7.10 got told my computer is not capable of running VMWare.
