UBUNTU update

Date: Dec 20    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 267

Can I install the CD for a later version (v8.04) over an older one (v6.06)
without loosing packages I've already added? I have dial-up Internet and hate to
go through that slow process again!

No i don't think so. The packages on the later version will have been
compiled for that kernel. I would recommend that you save all personal
files to a remote hard drive so that you can update with each new ubuntu
release without having to worry about deleting your work. [That's what i
do anyway!].

In the process its best to replace the 6.6

8.4 will give you plenty of programs.
