Snearker Neting a Repository

For starters, I might bail on this project as I've run into problems with
corrupt files, at least it appears that way, in the mirror sites and this makes
duplicating the mirror to a DVD very challenging.

I started by using Centos 5.2 which loaded flawlessly. It works right outta the
box. The problem is in trying to load MySQL on the system using the PRM. The
installer want to go out and check the repository system on the web for updates.
I'm not connected to the web nor can I be as I'm working under the DOD network
with non-standard machines. Due to that, I'm forced to sneaker net everything
on to the machine. Not bad if if fits on a CD or Flash or USB device.

Is anyone out here good with RPM's. I know some out there is say use Ubuntu,
and that might happen, but right now, I'm using this.

Right now everything is the same, I keep watch of the site off in the weeds as I
work on software at the EPA. Later....

Converting an RPM to another package can be done. Check out a program called
alien. Alien is a program that converts between Redhat rpm, Debian deb, Stampede
slp, Slackware tgz, and Solaris pkg file formats.

I was pretty active on this site a couple of years ago, but
got a gig at the EPA doing SQL/Perl programming. I'm trying to do this in
Centos as RH is in quite a few state and county sites that we service.
Unfortunately, this little setup I have can't be part of the DOD network, so I
can't do updates via the web. Thanks again!
