My Background:

Trivandrum.

Questions:
Where do we actually start the preparation for SJCP?
Which exam shud I give,SJCP1.2 or SJCP 1.4?
Which books shall I purchase? I am currently reading Java Complete
Reference 5th Edi.
What are the resources available on the net?
If possible is it possible for u to send the List of questions of
SJCP?
What is the value of this Exam in the industry?
Do we get better job opportunities once we have the SJCP stamp on our
resume?
I heard about this Book - Java Certification Guide - Cary Jardin.
How does it sound?
Ideally speaking for how many days One should prepare for the Exam?

I had read your message on the group; even I realize that no one had replay
on your message. Ok here I am telling you something about SCJP exam  that I
know. I give  all answers of your questions  in same order.

Here are the same:

(1) As you may already know that this exam is taken by Sun
Microsystems? So this sounds much more complicated? You can start preparing
for this exam at any time  when you have decided to clear it. And you should
have very solid grip on Java Language's Fundamentals. If you are not good in
Java then firstly go with some introductory books and then jump in the pool.

(2) You should go with SCJP exam J2SE 1.4, because I think it
always good to become up-to-date. You may already know that Sun has released
new version of Java J2SE 5.0. If you go with J2SE 1.2 than you may need to
upgrade you certification with newer one soon?

(3) See the book you are reading is good, but you need
something extra to pass this exam so I suggest you 1. Beginning Java 2
("By-Ivor Horton", "Published by-Wrox"), 2. Core Java 2 Volume I -
Fundamentals ("By Horstmann, Gary Cornell, "by-Sun") (if you need to go with
all Java features even that are not included in exam then you should go with
Core Java 2 Volume II - Advanced Features) 3. Java Programmer's Guide ("By
Khalid Mugal" I don't remember book name at this time but you can find it by
Author's Name) and of-course any other that you find helpful.

(4) You may search resources on the net by your self, but the
first think to see at java.sun.com.

(5) I am not able to send you any question regarding the exam,
but you may find this in exam's book, and on the net.

(6) Well obviously the "+" is the must. You should find this
certificate very helpful.

(7) Yes you should get batter Job opportunities after clear
this exam, even I am also go for the same.

(8) Go with some mock exams on the net, as much as you give.
When you think after these mock exams and books review that now you are
ready then only go for it. I think its take 4 months of heard work.
