Search within closed workbooks

I'm a newbie to VBA so hope this doesn't sound to silly. Is it possible to
search for a word/numbers within closed workbooks? Basically, want to search by
part name within a folder of purchase orders.
I realize this isn't something I could do over night ... willing to put the time
to it, if it's even possible. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes, it is possible.

well as Workbook and Folder Names)

All I can not help you with off hand is the actual searching. But as
long as you can search  in an open workbook, I think you can do the same
in a closed  workbook using ADO.
