Problem with Farsi DIGITS in Jasper, PDF, ITEXT

Asked By: Viveka    Date: Jul 21    Category: Java    Views: 1483

I had asked this question in another post but I am going to re-state
and re-phrase it.

I had problem with Farsi characters in JASPER, ITEXT when I generated
PDF files in Java. Some group members left some good comments which
solved the problem.

But, I can't display Farsi DIGITS in my report. This includes both
static and dynamic texts fed from the database.

I made some changes in regional settings, which made me see all
digits and dates on my computer in Farsi digits, but it still doesn't
work on Jasper PDF reports.

It should be a common problem too.
Looking forward to any comment.

Many developer seems to have similar problems with Farsi internationalizations. It is ashame but myself and many other Iranian developers haven't done any work with Farsi language yet.
When I look at many Persian sites they have similar problems, just look at radiofarda.com or irna.com on Linux and their day-to-day changes (no pun intended!) It would be beneficial to the community to compile a mini-howto's and code snippets on generation of jsp, reports, database setup, PDF, printing... in Farsi. How to setup your browser in window and linux would reduce some of the problems. Just don't point at Sun's or IBM's tutorial on internationalization and lets be specific on Farsi only with working examples.
