Can not download java applet under IE 6

I can not download ANY java applet under IE 6 (with Windows 2000) and
Sun JRE 1.3.1, the Java console always displays xxx class not found
message. Does anyone have similar experience? If I switch to MS VM in
my IE options, everythign seems to be working fine.
