I took
another peek at the KDE Launcher and found that I had previously
missed the Package Manager and installed a shortcut for the Software
Centre. As you said Barry there is a lot of difference between the two.

I have now installed Postgresql from the Muon Package Manager. but it
still does not appear in the KDE Launcher.
