For me, http://www.mrexcel.com/vbabook.html propelled me from an
Excel Power User (read macro's) into full  fledged VBA. You can't go
wrong with that book if you have already wrestled with macros and do not
already have some programming experience.

As you learn  (by DO-ing), this group can be especially helpful.

Sounds to me that you should concentrate your efforts on the business,
and buy in a coder to implement your ideas.

You could buy "Microsoft Office Excel 2003 Programming Inside Out" by
Curtis Frye. It is a good introductory book especially for doing daily
financial routines.

Introductory financial modelling  can be obtained from "Finanacial
modelling using Excel VBA" by Chandan Sengupta. This book concentrates on
Cash Flow analysis, Derivatives analysis and Bond pricing.
