how do you connect to the internet? Dialup or cable,DSL or internet connection sharing? I just went from Warty to Hedgehog and both installs automatically set themselves up to the verizon dsl router thru the switch on my network and have worked fine. Even the live cd I ran to check out ubuntu in the beginning connected by itself. If you are on dialup with a winmodem, I suggest you get an external 56k hardware modem to save a lot of grief in setup. There are drivers for winmodems on linux, but I have never had much luck with them.
