Exiting a man page

Date: Dec 03    Category: Unix / Linux / Ubuntu    Views: 378

A couple of more general questions on Ubuntu. If I view man page
and get to the end of the discription how do you get out of it. I have
tried "esc", "Delete", and a couple of others and have found that
"Cntl Z" works. Is there something else that works too.
I expect there is a way to edit a .profile and add
something else. Isn't there an echo command to see what the
users environment varibles are set to?

For some reason I always though :q would exit.

OK, I will try that, I can't remember if that was the way out in Unix or
not, it may have been
and I just forgot. Seems like at the end of manthough a CR got us out.

Just type "q" to quit (as in vi after you type ":").
You can also type "/" followed by a text to search.

The pager used by man used to be "/usr/bin/less". Just look at: "man less" and
you'll get more details.
