page layout using Indesign for (3) 300-400 page catalogs

Asked By: Luke    Date: Oct 04    Category: MS Office    Views: 913

who does page layout using Indesign for (3)
300-400 page catalogs. All we do for each image is use the place
command and manually work it in because each page is dynamic.

Now my husband is asking me to add images to his Excel catalog by
Monday - it is Friday, Aug. 11, 9 a.m.! I will be scanning in about
500 images in the next 3 days and inserting them one by one into his
document as this is the only way that I can see it being done. Am I
missing something here? Is there an easier way to do this via
scripting? The last company he worked for he said he just worked up
his catalog in excel, less the images, and the programmer zipped them
in there somehow like magic or something. However, he can't be more
specific, so I'm left completely in the dark.
Can anyone give me any answers or at least tell me if I am taking the
right approach?

I have one more question. Said husband has left boxes indicating where
each image will be placed. The boxes have a border around them. When I
place the image in the document, it is on top of the black border. I
need it underneath! Is there any way to do this???

He has his catalog set up on one sheet, 53 pages to output within that.
