Control button is not showing up

I am facing problem in placing the control buttons in to the excel sheet
whenever I put a button onto the excel i see a transparent box with a red cross
sign on it(just like gif a or a jpeg which can not be displayed).Can anybody
please tell why I am unable to get the button on the worksheet.

Are you trying to place the buttons  via Tools|Customize|Commands|Forms
rather than from the Forms toolbar?
